Default Petition to fix the gold drops.

This needs to be addressed, and fast.

Perfect gold drops in Guild Wars: Prophecies and Guild Wars: Factions are becoming way too common, and this is going to make the market plummet. No longer do you see Price Checks for the otherwise "crappy" or "common" gold items you'd see pre-update. No, now 80-90% of drops are perfect or damn-well near it. This is ridiculous.

That perfect Fellblade or Chaos Axe you spent weeks farming for now seems like it was all a waste. Why? Well, you can blame it partially on new skins in Factions, but the majority of the reason is because of the new perfect drop ratio. I mean, come on. Req 8 15^50 Fellblades for 100k + 15-20 ecto??

I'm proposing that AreaNet fix this new perfect drop ratio, for the sake of the collectors as well as the fun and thrill of PvE. It starts getting boring real fast when you have an inventory full of perfect weapons and nothing else to do.

Now I know this probably won't go well, seeing as I'm asking you to sign a petition to DECREASE perfect drops, but this is in the best interest of Guild Wars, as well as securing the games future.

Ummm, perfect gold drops wont make the economy plummet IMO, because there are always those rare skins taht hardly ever drop, and those are the ones taht keep the economy running, I mean i hve otten MANY perfect "War Axes" in ch1, but NEVER gotten a perfect "Serpent Axe", the increase of perfect gold drops won't highly effect the economy IMO.

/notsigned

I also saw how you addressed the perf fellblade and chaos axe perfect drop increase, and I have seen a lot of this, and this may effect the ch1 economy in a slight way, but there are always rarer skins (to think about it, not a lot rarer than perf fellblade in ch1), but I think GW is trying to get us away form ch1 items, and get us into ch2 items.... which isn't a bad idea, they want us to use the new content.

Exactly what I mean. +30HP mods on purples? +28 on BLUES?

How could the market not plummet from this kind of stuff?

By Chapter 3 we'll be telling our kids stories...stories about how back in the "old days" Guild Wars had a booming economy - about how people could search for rare items and trade them for a profit. Yep...back in the good ol' days.

Seeing as how ANet's version of a utopian economy is simply to devalue perfection by such a severe degree that everyone in the world is simply broke...

Was wondering when somebody was gonna start a thread like this...

I think it's okay to up the drop quality of mods, like Fortitude or Sundering, but please please leave the inherent mods like 15>50 alone!

this is anets fix to the gold farmers that sell their wares on ebay for real life money. by lowering the economy prices, they make it to where everyone can afford a good looking, useful item. this game was divided into 2 groups. the rich and those that scraped by. they want to have a common blend between the two.

Most of the people that were rich "pre-update" were those that either invested in something (runes, sigils, what have you..), farmed hard, and/or were packrats. It wasn't hard to get rich pre-update if you knew what you were doing.

I believe we can still have a blend of the "rich and poor" in this game, just not at the current ratio. They should pull it back a bit.

Ok, so like, because of gold farmers I should lose a half million in 24 hours? That sounds fair to me! Oh...wait...that's completely counter-intuitive isn't it? I mean, hell, with the projected loss in value on everything I own, I ought to e-bay just to get back up to where I WAS! Of course I won't...e-baying sucks, but only *slightly* more than having to refarm everything you lost after ANet crashed the economy on purpose.

A couple of months ago, remember when all the traders reset? Everyone bought out sup sorbs and vigors, as well as shards, sapphires, and rubies? Everything had to be reset...the whole server needed to be rolled back. Today I wonder if ANet would even bother...all that stuff has been cut in half or more for price, and no-one wants to invest in it because it's too volatile to even try (unless you're rich and have balls of steel).

I think ANet should cut the BS out and set the economy back to the way it was. Put some value back in materials - make rare finds actually rare. I don't like being pissed on and told that it's raining. If they want to make it so that everyone can have the best by making the best just as common as dirt, then they should cut the crap and just make it so that PvE character creation will be exactly the same as PvP character creation. Just slap on your choice of 15K/FoW armor, max damage/rare skinned weapons, skills and elites, and go. Hell, that's basically what it's become anyways. Why even bother with the illusion that it takes any effort to get the best in this game now? Compared to when the game came out...or even six or three months ago...hell, even last week...everything has just because so much easier to get. The quality of drops, and the value of rare skins and materials just seems to scale depending on how much the GW community bitches.

Well, they finally did it. ANet just threw out the baby with the bath water. I don't know all the pressures they bowed to to implement the crap-tacular "changes" (I'd call it vandalism) they've inflicted on what used to be an economy, but I guess they got thier way. Congratulations - we're all poor now. Happy?

Screw it - I'm going to PvP. PvE finally turned into the giant clusterf*** that everyone wanted it to be.

I have no interest in playing a game where everyone looks the same and is using the same equipment. I don't promote elitism or bot farming by any means but I feel there should be a certain amount of work involved in obtaining the most popular items. There should be a reward for hard work and time spent (to some extent). This change is simply eliminating one more goal to accomplish. Without having to spend any time to obtain my weapon of choice I can promise you many peoples interest level, including mine will decline rapidly. Whats the point of spending so much time and effort on FOW runs, or other similarily challenging areas, when perfect Fellblades and Chaos axes are common place? Getting that random drop is like hitting a mini lottery and I'd hate to see that ruined.

ehh, jhardman you make more good drops seem communist lol.
above when i signed, i did meant it, just not in the way other people mean it, this MIGHT be GW's way to crck down on ebay'ers .... but get serious, its their money... not anyone elses, and its not that hard for GW to catch them, they just choose not to because they also understand that banning 1/5 of the community for ebaying wouldnt be a good business desicion, also, i have many friend that ebay just because they would rather work an extra hour at work, instead of grinding for a day or two MAYBE MORE....

once again, i DO agree with what someone said that having +30 hp mods on purps and blues would do some messing up to the ADD ON MODS, but then again i feel sorry for those people who dont want to get into the "monolpoly" of GW, and would just like a quiet GW life in PVE or PVP, so this would help them (the majority of the GW community can not afford perfect items)

and in any game the majority is what matters.

/notsigned²

also, as i stated its the RARE items that keep this economy running not the PERFECT drops, tell me next time you see people spamming about how much they wouild want a perfect war axe, they dont because its easy to get, and the war axes dont mess up the ch1 economy now do they...

The only thing that annoys me about these new drops is that while doing old missions for the bonus i get the odd gold drop for me. It seems most of the time this thing is perfect, hell i got a perfect 15^50 req7 Sephis Axe the other day, the only slightly was that it was so far from max damage it was worthless! All these perfect stats on clearly not perfect weapons is just fustrating, specially when it seems they never salvage properly!

Why do people care if they have a super rare item? Who the heck is going to notice? Who cares how much Gold you have? What are you saving it for, anyway?

IMO, everyone should have access to Runes of Sup Vigor, max mods, and perfect weapons. It just makes sense.

Now, you want a super-rare skin that confers no actual bonus? That's cool with me.

But you really expect me to feel sorry for you because your perfect Golds aren't worth a zillion Gold anymore? Sorry, I don't. You invested in a speculative market, and as the game goes on, prices will continue to fall as
  • more people play
  • better collector items are available
  • drop rates increase

You're missing the point.

This isn't about stopping the ratio so we can all be "l33t haxz0rz wit 0ur crystalline sw0rds LoLZzzzz", its about having something to work for in the game. Whats the point of continuing PvE after beating it if theres nothing to work for?

I kind of have mixed feelings on the whole thing. Before Factions, I NEVER got a single perfect gold drop. I never got a Sup Absorb. After Factions came out I have gotten an Absorb and I have gotten two perfect gold drops (A staff and a hammer...both with excellent perfect mods). While I do like the thought of being able to get the really good max stuff, I dunno...it just seems like the sheer thrill of IDing a max perfect drop would just...go away after a while, as the max golds get more common.

So after thinking it over I would have to say...even though I do like the thought of being able to get the "good stuff", I think the gold items should have the word "rare" attached to them for a reason.

"Fix" the gold drops...

You know that was a bug right? That's why they locked it down and fixed it so rapidly.

And as to the whole "They've killed the economy" tirades...

Do you play the game for making money, or the missions, PVPing and exploration? I mean seriously, if you have "nothing to do" because your Fellblade is *only* worth 100k + 20ectos... wow, why do you just find a game called Market Economics and leave Guild Wars alone?

ANet has said from the start, they want to keep the division between the "new player" and the "experienced player" minimal, so that the only real difference is skill. They didn't want Level 80 whatevers smashing a level 10 into the ground. You're "better" by being more skilled not because you can afford to sit at a computer 12 hours a day.

So if a "perfect" mod or rune is only affordable to the rich and "can spend all day on the game" types, that is a thematically unattainable advantage to the masses.

So ANet evened it up, now you can get the Mods you want for cheap.

You want to be "uber kewl" and "leet" because you know all the super-rare places to farm or you can amass billions upon billions of gold? Woo hoo, go all out, yee-haw and um... good on you. Guess what, if the price of FoW armor and rare skins remains the same, while everything else goes down, you can still have your "I'm super leet kewl and original!" armor and weapon designs.

Am I coming off sarcastic to those that trivialize this game into goal of amassing wealth? Sure, cause I don't think that's what this game is about.

In PVP do I care how I or my opponent looks? No, I just care that I'm standing at the end of the match.

In PVE do I care how my team's armor and weapons look? Well, there is the intial "that's cool" (which is usually a factor of dye designs, not skins), but that fades away. Generally when I use my character to persue a storyline... I care about the storyline.

Don't get me wrong, I like to personalize my character, give them a certain look or theme, sure... but it's HARDLY my goal here. I play the game.

So your now complaining that you might get all the perfect rare skin weapons you want and now you think that not everyone should have access to them? If you have 8 sets of FoW armour, perfect rare skin weapons and too much spare gold, i think you need to get a life (or stop ebaying). Otherwise they're will ALWAYS be something to work towards.

P.S. Crystalline Swords look shit.

Way to consider only yourself.

It was fun to farm an occasionally find that one gold drop that you could live on for a few weeks. Now nothing's worth enough to buy a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing set of armor. Ectos have bottomed out. The speculated rubies and sapphires netted me(and several friends) some 200k+ in loss because they dont have a (promised) use.
